Who is Jayburd?
It was the summer before PT school, and I had all but lost faith in my future profession.
After 3 different PTs, an MRI with no results, and 6 months of various follow up visits, I was beyond frustrated.
After competing Powerlifting in 2017, I was hit by multiple injuries. I was forced to take time off and go down the rabbit hole of our healthcare system.
I was lucky to finally find help from a 4th PT, along with one of my professors at PT school. But it was still almost a year and a half before I was back under the bar with full strength.
Unfortunately, this wasn't my first awful experience with PT. I’ve been plagued by injuries since elementary school. And honestly….I hated Physical Therapy as a kid.
I didn’t understand it when I was younger, and was told things like “stop squatting,” “running is bad for your knees,” and “don’t skateboard anymore.”
After spending over 13 years in the fitness and Physical Therapy industry, I know how damaging these beliefs can be.
There is no reason why you can’t lift unrestricted, play sports, and live the life you love outside the gym. There’s no reason why you should have to take time off from the activities that you love for aches and pains.
As gym rats, we need the gym to stay mentally healthy. When it’s taken from us because of pain and injury, we start to spiral.
I’ve made it my mission to not let my patients go through the same thing I had to.
And it’s my dream that we can change this experience for everyone like us, one gym rat at a time.
